How to Edit the Status Key for the Public Portal

Only administrators can update the Status Key. Follow these steps to customize the Status Key:

Step 1: Navigate to the Status Key

  1. Click Customize in the top menu.

  2. Select Status Key from the dropdown.

Step 2: Edit Key Instructions

  1. Go to the Key Instructions tab.

  2. By default, the Key Instructions are set to “Roads Last Plowed.” We recommend keeping this as is, but you can update it if necessary.

Step 3: Edit the White Roads Tab

  • The White Roads tab determines when roads will stop drawing on the public map and turn back to white.

  • Enter a description for white roads, such as “More than 8 Hours Ago.”

Step 4: Edit Status Key 1

  1. Each Status Key tab contains three sections:

    • Hours: Determines the time frame that changes the road’s color on the public map.

    • Description: Typically formatted as “Less than (X) Hours Ago.” Ensure the variable in the description matches the hours entered.

      • Example: If the description is “Less than 2 Hours Ago,” enter “2” in the Hours section.

    • Color: The color that roads will display for this timeframe.

  2. Select a color using one of the following methods:

    • Use the color buttons at the bottom of the box.

    • Adjust the dot in the large color box or use the slider bar to refine the hue.

    • Enter a specific Hex code.

  3. Click Save Changes to apply your updates.

Step 5: Edit Status Key 2 and Beyond

  1. For subsequent Status Key tabs, the description is typically formatted as “X to Y Hours Ago.”

  2. Enter your desired time frame in the Description field.

    • Example: If the description is “2 to 4 Hours Ago,” enter “4” in the Hours section.

  3. Choose a color as described in Step 4 and click Save Changes.

Step 6: Add Extra Status Keys

  1. To add more than three colors, click the + tab after Status Key 3.

  2. Follow the same steps as outlined for Status Key 2 and beyond.

  3. Click the + Add New Status button under the color selector box.

  4. Save your changes by clicking Save Changes.

That’s it! Your customized Status Key will now display on the public map.
